Mirabel Pinot Noir 2015

East Kelowna, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaMirabel Vineyards winery is owned by Doug and Dawn Reimer, long-time grape suppliers from their south east Kelowna vineyard to Meyer Family Vineyards in Okanagan Falls. That wine is sold under the Reimer Vineyard moniker. The site in south east Kelowna is moderately steep with a cool, northwesterly aspect, and the soil a mix of alluvial and windblown silt over gravel. The vineyard is planted with a mix of French Pommard and Dijon clones farmed sustainably. Despite a hot growing season there is more red berries than black with flecks of brown spice and earthy/green forest floor which speaks to the site. The oak is subtle, the length medium long but balanced with a hint of minerality. There is no winery yet so the wine is made in Summerland under the tutelage of winemaker Matt Dumayne at Okanagan Crush Pad You can drink this wine now but I would wait until 2020. Anything with mushrooms would be a fine match. Production, and it’s small, is sold exclusively in Vancouver by New District. The wine was aged 11 months in Francois Freres French oak that was 30 percent new.Tasted: 22 August 2017Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
