Pearl Morissette Chardonnay Cuvée Dix Neuvième 2014

Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaNiagara's leading naturalist producer (rather, Canada's iconic naturalist producer), Morissette's 2014 chardonnay is from their 19th street vineyard on Twenty Mile Bench, whole bunch pressed and native ferment in old foudres. The wine rested on its lees in the same vessels, without battonage, for 15 months and was bottled unfiltered and unfined. Earthy and textural, with green apple skin, pear skin, bitter lemon and meadow herbs, bedded with some wooly lees. There's a slight oxidative note weaving throughout, through to the lingering lemon peel finish. Savoury and characterful in youth; this will reveal and unknit with time.Tasted: 23 August 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
