Summerhill Pyramid Winery Pinot Noir 2013

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaHow refreshing is it to taste a local pinot noir released when the winery thinks it ready to drink, rather than when it needs to be sold. It's rarely a decision of quality, but rather economics - unfortunately, too oft the case in winemaking. This organically farmed 2013 spent 33 months in neutral oak, and is showing its age gracefully, with worn leather, dried raspberry scenting subtle cherry, earthy moss and tea leaf notes. Tannins are soft and nubile, with finely powdered cinnamon lingering. Pair with wild mushroom ragout over polenta, or wild rice and cranberries. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans. To be revisited at Thanksgiving.Tasted: 22 August 2017Tasted by: Treve Ring & Anthony GismondiPrices:
