Carson Pinot Noir Naramata Vineyard 2015

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaMeyer winemaker Chris Carson is the author of this wine that comes off the free-draining, alluvial/colluvial soils of the Naramata Bench. Carson makes a somewhat hedonistic style of pinot noir from 115 Dijon clones that express juicy, red fruit with a savoury, spicy undercurrent. Like last year, it's reminiscent of Oregon over Central Otago. The ferment runs about three weeks before it spends a little under a year in a third new, a third first fill, and a third second fill French oak barrels. If anything, the 2015 is warmer and richer on entry with ripe, strawberry fruit from back to front. The textures are slippery and long. This was perfect with day old turkey and all the leftover trimmings. Delicious.Tasted: 10 October 2017Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
