Hester Creek Syrah-Viognier 2015

Golden Mile Bench, Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaHow much do I like this wine? Maybe enough to join the wine club so I can get some. Bright, floral, fresh on the nose with viognier peeking through, the palate is a mix of violet covered black fruits with a strong smoked ham undercurrent. The style is modern, almost Australian in some ways, suggesting it will be easier to drink in its youth. Smooth, juicy and elegant, with tannins are barely perceptible, this works with anything grilled. Post-harvest, the viognier and the syrah are co-fermented on the skins for 15 days before being pressed off, and the juice is aged in 60 percent American and 40 percent French oak for 15 months before being bottled under screw cap.
