Champagne Alfred Gratien Brut NV

Champagne, FranceThis small house never makes more than 300,000 bottles annually, does not employ MLF, and the ferment and first six months takes place in small, neutral barriques, with four years on the lees. Their reserve wines are stored in large oak barrels, adding more wood-whisper complexities. This is a blend of 46/29/25 chardonnay/pinot noir/pinot meunier. Very detailed and polished, with creamy core tightly detailed with lemon-laced zesty acidity and hoisin savoury interest. The interplay here between barrel aging depth and no MLF-cut is extremely well done. The golden straw hue reflects the barrel maturation and additional time in bottle.Tasted: 09 December 2017Tasted by: Treve Ring & Anthony GismondiPrices:
