Champagne Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Rosé 2006

Champagne, FranceThe Comtes Rosé is made from entirely Grand Cru grapes and produced only in exceptional years. Chardonnay (30 percent) is sourced from Côte des Blancs, and the Pinot Noir (70 percent) from the Montagne de Reims. Quite vinous, this has 12 percent of the Pinot Noir blended in as still red wine, and spends 7-8 years on the lees. This striking rose is marked with smoked stones and sweet salami before a bedding of cherry, herbal raspberry, bright cranberrywild strawberries and rich brioche. There's a hint of oxidation throughout the finessed, pixellated palate, one with a fine slick of fine cream. Delicately fruity, and elegant as expected by this prestigious Champagne. Tight with energy in spades, this is drinking beautifully now, but with age will impress further.Tasted: 09 December 2017Tasted by: Prices:
