Painted Rock Syrah 2015

Skaha Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaA reductive character opens this youthful red from Skaha Bench, one followed quickly thereafter by savoury roasted meat notes. With time in the glass the wine settles into its groove, offering rich black pepper, licorice and super ripe cassis flecked with umami and floral notes. A warm year has delivered a syrah more akin to the Languedoc than the northern Rhone: round rich and drinkable but less complexity. There is just enough acidity in 2015 to keep it on track but it is a warmer version of this noted Skaha syrah. That said. many will love the hedonistic nature of this vintage. Grilled lamb is an excellent dish to tame this big red.Tasted: 14 March 2018Tasted by: Prices:
