Orofino Vineyards Cabernet Franc Pozza Vineyard 2016

Cawston, Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis is the first public release of a 100 percent cabernet franc from Orofino. The wine was wild fermented and aged in concrete and neutral barrels for six months. The nose is typically savoury, with dried herb aromas and spice dominating the front end. The attack is ripe and soft with sweet, black cherry jam flavours and a leafy finish. It’s easy to drink. It was bottled unfiltered with minimal intervention so expect a fine sediment that needs decanting to avoid a cloudy pour. An attractive start for a wine that should head down the lighter, red fruit road, more Loire than Napa, in subsequent years.Tasted: 14 February 2018Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
