Montecariano Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore 2016

Verona, Veneto, ItalyThis blend of predominantly corvina and corvinone is fleshed out with smaller parts rondinella, molinara, Croatina, oseleta, from the region's clay and lime rich soils. This is Ripasso, where the wine is fermented a second time on the still-fermenting skins for Recioto. After 3 weeks, this heads to French and Slavonian oak for 2 years. Ripe and polished with black and red fruits, kirsch, walnuts, tart twiney acidity, and plush tannins, this full bodied red finishes with bittersweet chocolate and a warming flush. Browning in the glass, this is one for bigger red meat braises / pastas.Tasted: 11 February 2023Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
