Bottega Vinai Pinot Nero 2018

Trentino- Alto-Adige, ItalyIf you want to make decent pinot noir / pinot nero, it helps to have altitude. This comes from the slopes of the Dolomites, in Trentino, around 300-450m. After a stainless ferment, this rests in a mix of stainless, barriques and larger casks for 1 year prior to blending and bottling. This is showing its age, with a browning hue and watery rim, revealing dried forest floor, dried cherry, raspberry and subtle iodine on the medium palate. Tannins are worn into the fruit at this time, while acidity is still quite bright, leading to a warming finish. A gentle pinot that needs be drunk now, ideally with autumnal mushrooms.Tasted: 05 May 2023Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
