Cascina Vengore Campolungo Barbera d'Asti 2021

Piedmont, ItalyVèngore is a natural amphitheatre of 26 hectares, including meadows, woods, and vineyards. Centering, there is a historic farmstead, with Roman steps. This organic barbera comes from a single vineyard on the estate, and is native fermented and aged one year in stainless. Not your typical candied barbera, this is a serious example, still fruit primary from the lack of wood, but with a savoury sheen as it edges into secondary notes of dried florals and fruit alongside fresh. Cherry, mulberry, and plum lead the pack, with a crunchy acidity, and fine, sticky tannins pinning in the sides to a pink peppercorn finish. Nice energy here, and a lovely addition to the dinner table (think kebabs).Tasted: 13 October 2023Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
