Perticaia Montefalco Rosso 2018

Umbria, ItalyAfter a career in wine consulting, Guido Guardigli retired in 2000 and bought Perticaia, an estate not far from Montefalco in Casale, Umbria. This Rosso blends 70% Sangiovese, 20% Sagrantino, and 10% Merlot. The Sangio and Merlot spent 1 year in stainless while the Sagrantino was in barrel, prior to blending. Spiced cherries, black raspberries are wrapped with toasty wood and framed with lightly grippy tannins through the bitter cherry finish. Acidity is lofted, keeping this fuller red easily food friendly (think grilled sausages or rustic ragu). Drinking now.Tasted: 20 January 2024Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
